Most steer are butchered between 1100 and 1400 lbs. Our price for the farmer and the processing is based on hanging weight. Hanging weight is approximately 60% of live weight. Fully processes weight is approximately 60% of hanging weight. These are estimates and are to be used as such.
Example - 1200 lbs steer live weight
Hanging Weight estimate - 720 lbs
Price to Farmer estimate - $2520
Price to Butcher for Processing - $835
Total cost for full steer - $3355
Processed weight estimate - 450 lbs
Estimated price per lb - $7.45 per lb
Prices could be higher if custom processing includes extra items above standard processing. For example - pre-pattied burgers, stew meat, hot sticks or summer sausage are all additional costs.
Pricing also differs based on the live weight of the animal.
